Cramlington will hold its first ever Christmas Market at the end of the month as well as enjoy the Christmas lights switch-on.

In conjunction with Cramlington Town Council, the traditional Christmas Market weekend on November 26 and 27 will offer shoppers alternative stocking fillers and gift ideas with a range of homemade and handcrafted products by local and international suppliers.

Visitors can enjoy a festive chestnut and mulled wine stall as well as handmade beauty and bath products, ginger wine, sweets by Northumbria Traditional Sweets, cards, stationery, gift wrap, homemade chocolate and fudge, as well as farmhouse cakes, jams and chutneys.

Father Christmas himself will also stop off in the centre on Sunday 27 where children can tell him want they would like for Christmas and will then bring further magic to the town by switching on the Christmas lights in Smithy Square at 5.30pm.

Manor Walks' Centre Manager Bruno Coppola said: "It is exciting to be able to host our first ever Christmas Market in Manor Walks. It will bring a sense of festivity to the community as well as offer exclusive and alternate stocking fillers to shoppers. We hope that this Christmas market will bring something a bit different to our loyal customers.

"We hope to mark this as the start of a regular event in which we can welcome local farmers and continental traders into the Cramlington community. Not only will this encourage local business and trade, but offers our customers more variety."

Cramlington Town Council vice chairman councillor Susan Johnston said: "This is just what Cramlington has been waiting for - its first ever traditional Christmas market. I'm sure it will go down well with the community and bring people in from further afield."
