Shankhouse claim a late winner

Posted by The Journal on May 12, 09 03:09 PM in Sport

Walker Central have claimed the Re/Max Northern Alliance Premier Division title for the second year running following wins over rivals Gillford Park and then a 7-2 thrashing of Wark last night.

While there are still some twists and turns to come at the top of the table, results on Saturday condemned Murton and Peterlee Town to relegation.

Shankhouse extended their unbeaten run to nine games, beating Alnwick Town 2-1 at Northburn after trailing to Paul Yeadon's opener for the Town. Darren Naylor got Shankhouse back on terms and with only two minutes to spare Anthony Moran claimed their winner.
