One of the country's most established folk clubs has announced a line-up of top performers to play in Northumberland.

Cramlington Folk Club, which has been bringing music to the town for over 30 years, will welcome singers from all over the UK and Ireland, including Ben Sands, whose song Hugs features on a TV advert.

Keith Taylor from the club, said: "We have always provided a wide variety of music and styles from traditional and contemporary folk to blues and bluegrass.

"If you are in the area please drop in, you may be pleasantly surprised. Everyone is welcome, whether to perform or just to enjoy the music.

"We are proud to be known as one of the friendliest clubs in the country."

The group, formed in September 1972 at the Blagdon Arms in Cramlington Village, moved around various venues in the area over the years, but finally found a home at Cramlington's The Hind.

Folk-lovers meet every Tuesday from 8pm to hear and play a wide variety of music and styles, from blues to folk.

The line-up for the rest of the year is Ben Sands on October 21, Mike Silver on October 28, Marian Bradfield on November 4, Jim Bainbridge on November 18 and Jez Lowe and The Bad Pennies in Concordia Leisure Centre on November 29.
